Remember, you can always check water levels at the TVA Web site (9/07/04) Water was what I call perfect. Lots of current and many stained areas. Grass is dieing back very fast along the main river channel. Boy, when the hydrilla mats break off they leave little grass behind. I will miss the flipping, but traps and spinnerbaits will feel right at home. Water temps were around 80-83 in all areas. Grass beds found in the pockets are in good shape for ratting, if you are willing to do it long enough to find the bass. (6/28/04) Water fell all weekend and should remain at or just below full pool. Grass mats everywhere with the hydrilla containing the slime we all love. Waters temp averaged 88 with main lake being some what stained, due to heavy current. Water color will clear right back up. Nice looking lake over and still producing bass as if it were April. (6/16/04) Water level seems to be staying right at full pool most of the time, falling slightly during the week. Water temps were 86-88 everywhere I check it. Water color is good with some areas being too clear. There seems to be more current in the mornings and late afternoon. But not a lot during the day over the weekends. Grass mats are ready for flipping and even a little rat fishing. Bass are scattered in small groups, hanging in grass from 6-8 feet. I have had to just go when I can but have managed some pretty good days. Thanks ALL. (05/24/04) Been really busy the last month and only fished a tad. Got out for a half day on Saturday and found the grass topping out everywhere. Temps ran right at 80 on average. Water was also very clear due to virtually no rain. Main lake hydrilla was especially clear. Little to zero current with water levels being a foot or so under full pool. Should be able to find a flipping bite real soon. Bass are hanging in 5-10 feet grass. (04/19/04) Man, what a totally beautiful day on the water Saturday. Water level was just under full pool and 64 - 69 temps. Water color varied due to a nice wind but many creeks were quite clear. Grass is budding everywhere and early indications may show more milfoil than last year, that would be nice. Post spawn is it for now I caught nothing under 3 feet deep. Pretty good half day. (03/30/04) Water was still low all weekend but did rise slightly over the 2 days. BOOM, on the water temps as they reached as high as 68 in many areas. Water color was a tad clear and made fishing a little tougher. I have seen a few beds but not many. I am sure there are plenty in other areas of the lake, as some tournaments have been won sight fishing. Should be more spawners this weekend. Water temps are sure to suffer some, over this cooler week, but should stay warm enough. (3/22/04) Water was very low, darn near as low as it ever gets. It also stayed low with no indication of rising, which is very unusual. Low water is a good thing for fishing Guntersville Lake. Water color was perfect to start the weekend but slowly became very muddy as a huge SW wind blow one day followed by a even worse NW on Sunday. Water temps pushed lower 60's on Saturday but were knocked back to about 58 with Sunday's cold winds. (03/16/04) Water level was down about 1.5 feet from last weekend. Water color in most areas was still quite stained with temps averaging 57 everywhere I checked it. Not a lot of river current as the level seemed to be steady over the two days. (03/08/04) High water was the subject this weekend. Water was also quite muddy in a few places but was clearing very rapidly. Lots of river and creek current as expected with the high water. Wind has been blowing on my fishing for a month now. Water temps ran from upper 50's to even a drop of 63 in one pocket. Fish were still staging at 4 - 8 feet. (03/01/04) Water is still staying low as it should, providing we do not get a lot of rain this week. Water temps warmed to low 50's in most places and water color was near perfect. Nice flow of current most of the time. Grass is the about the same as last week except it is more visible in the clearer water. (02/23/04) Wind, wind, wind I was pretty sick of it after Sunday. And the water was certainly churned up. I feel conditions had been on the improve with this being the first big snap backwards. As far as the grass well we have a few ton more than this time last year. Some grass appears to have kept right on growing. Water was low Saturday and fell more that night, rising slightly on Sunday. Rain this week should help the fishing unless we get several inches. Water should also stay low unless we do get a decent amount of rain. (02/20/04) February has brought us ideal water conditions for early spring fishing. Last check was 48-52 degree water and great color. Slightly stained, the signature conditions for Guntersville. Water lever has stayed down but still above winter pool. We did have some higher water during the rains but conditions are normal and perfect right now. Grass is right where it should be with either brown or green left over grass everywhere you find it in the summer time. And brown grass is very productive. Slight current most of the time. Some shallow areas should reach mid to upper 50's with these warm conditions. Large numbers of bigger than average bass are being caught by many anglers with the ten pound mark being broke often. My apologize for having slacked with the web site updates but life has been overly hectic, leaving little time to fish. I am typing this as I plan my trip for this weekend's fishing.
