New Fishing Line

Postby Vision » Sun Feb 26, 2012 6:30 pm

well i finally got all 9 bait casters cleaned and new line spooled up, one with Power Pro Braid, one with Fire line Braid, the round stuff, one with Berkley 20 lb fluorcarbon, which that suff feels like 1/4" steel cable compared to Mono, all the rest have 17 lb Berkley XT except my three cranking rods that have 14 lb berkley XT. so i guess i am ready to go fishing if the weather does not come a major blow. not even going to mess with my spinning rods, got to get back into river fishing, don't have time for the light weight spinning gear stuff. just not too sure about that fluorcarbon stuff. seems aweful stiff. when i was spooling it on the reel, the spool was trying to birds nest. sort of almost made me mad. but i put a worm on that and cast it out in the yard, if it has half the feel in the ater it does in the yard, i might be setting the hook on every rock. got it on a 6'6" MH abu rod. pretty sensitive rod. so we will see.
come on spring, Mikie is gettin the bug.
speaking of bug i hope these here bass like redbug worms, or better learn to like them i have so many.

I only use mono as leaders on my carolina rig and and one spinner bait,rod/jerkbait rod because it floats . I use braid on my worm rods with fluorocarbon leader, jig rod,top water, one spinning reel, fluorocarbon on everything else. You will love the feel of fluorocarbon. You can feel everything so much better and tough as nails. get you some reel magic and and use it regularly and it will keep your line smooth.

What kind did you get? I like the Berkley 100% (gold box) The professional grade vicious is good but $$, Bass Pro Shops XPS is probably the best for the price and it's just as good as any of them.

i got the gold box in 20 lb test. it might be i am not used to something so stiff, i will give it a chance. my boss at work said to spray it with real magic, and it will be fine. so with what you said and he said, i will fish it, and may just like it. i do know it is sensative stuff i can feel that.

it is like any braid that requires a drop of super glue on the knot.
