 << Back to main Site

I have not had much time to plan any trips. Everything is busy and no end in site. All I can say is I will hit top water everyday till Christmas. My best pattern has been swimming a worm, fishing a Carolina rigged worm and flipping. I will still post some results as I can, Thanks all!

9/4 and 6/2004 Caught 5 bass each day. All on a rat L trap on the 4th and spinnerbaits on the 8th. Biggest fish 4lbs.

8/28/04 Fished half of the day. 6 fish all keepers but that was all they were. Buzzbait

8/21/04 Took a buddy out for the day and it was bad slow, highlight of the day was a 6.2 that took my swimming worm. We had six more total.

6/27/04 Bite was on pretty good and just got better on Sunday. Had maybe 11 nice fish flipping, Buzzbaits and Carolina rig. Sunday, BOOM about 19, 16 came on Buzzbaits, man that was cool. Had maybe 10 over 3 this weekend but none over 4.

6/19/04 Gave up my best fishing area to a friend who needed them in a tournament, What are friends for anyway? Only fish for a couple hours on Saturday and caught 3 with one around 4.5 flipping the grass. Managed a few more on a white Buzzbait.

6/12/04 Great day of fishing. Had one 5.3 first thing on a pop R and the went flipping and caught 8 or so all nice keepers. Backed of to 17 foot casting a big jig and pulled out a 5.7. went home at 11AM

5/28,31/04 Boom good day on Saturday and Monday (Memorial Day) Caught about 15 flipping with two around 3.5 Monday was cool and drizzle (WIND) the Buzzbait was on. Had maybe 7 fish with 2 near 5 pounds

Well, after last weeks pitiful results, I am going ballistic on the bass. Since I am fresh out of dynamite I will take a less drastic approach. I am going to a cover more water faster to find me some bass.  I spent too much time scouting and thinking and not enough casting last week.
Place Description
First choice will be casting over some grass points that come up to an ideal spawning flat. I have caught fish here for years and they should be there*

* Results May Vary.  LOLOLOL

4-8' Grass Trap, Spinnerbait and fluke added a jig With the boat in 10' I can cast to 1 foot as well as 15. Pretty good weekend. Anything would have been better than last weekend. As it turns out, it was quit a bit better. Had several from 3-4lbs.  and even one over 5. See first 3 photos in gallery. My guest and I boated around 15 keepers.
I will also try mass Carolina rigging to search over spawning flats. I can usually find fish sitting in 4-6 foot waiting to move in as well as the cruisers that may already  be up. 6-2' Rough bottom, some grass and wood Ole Liz Sitting in 8-10 feet casting to 1'
I am also going to run the bank with a jerkbait and fluke, Perfect way to see if any males are up. If so I will slow down and look for Miss. Big Un 0-5' Grass stumps and a few lay-downs << Sitting in 6' casting to the bank

Will be hitting a couple of points @ daylight :-) 5-8' Milfoil and some stumps Carolina rig and Jig Sitting in 12' casting to 5' Well, this was one of those trips where I have to wonder how good of an idea this game plan page is. Only managed a few very short fish on Rat-L-Traps in 4 feet. I guess bad days make the good day feel better. Fished harder with less results, go figure!
I will move into creeks that seemed to have productive points and see just how shallow these fish are this weekend. 0-8' ?? Carolina rig, spinnerbait and crankbait Basic Bank Fishing
Depending on water level I have a few boathouses to hit 8-4' boathouse Jig Pitching
Will try some deeper water if not having any luck, I look for bass to be at all depths as the spawn nears. 5-14' All Hydrilla Spinner bait and trap Sitting in 14-18' casting to about 5'

Place Description
I am going rock fishing in the morning. 8-12' Rocks and some Grass. Jig and Carolina Rig. Next to rocks casting out at an angle, targeting the deeper rocks. Zip
I am going to also hit many, and I do mean many creek drops and points that should be ideal pre-spawn. 6-10' Grass and a few stumps I am sure. JERKBAIT and Carolina Rig. Will tray casting to the shallow and to the deep as well as parallel, Found a few nice fish relating to stumps in 4 - 6 foot, my guest had one at 7lbs even
I expect to have all the fish a man could want by now. But if not I will spend the rest of the time slightly deeper. 6-18 Grass JERKBAIT, trap and spinnerbait. Most likely casting from deep to not so deep. Over still quite slow for but but I will keep chunking.
I am going to fish slower and find the bass in the areas above, I know they will be there so I must find them.
