Fishing Lake Guntersville ™

3/21/11 Smaller baits and line can save a day, things get slow. The you get slow. |
| 3/1/11 Anytime you are around green budding grass you are close to the bass as well |
| 10-4-10 As the water cools, fishing as in video 2 should be working again. |
9-24-10 Flipping was off this year bad. But there is a few areas that held fish really well. This time of year we can find flipping fish in any grass line. Along the river or in the back of the pockets. Fall brings many clear sky days so the bass want shade but the temp is perfect under any grass on the lake. |
9-17-10 As the water cools soft jerk baits like flukes start working again in shallow water. Bright colors like bubblegum are great on these sunny fall days. |
9-08-10 September has always been a great month for smaller spinnerbaits on Guntersville. Not sure why but who care if it works. : ) I like a 1/4oz All white and silver. # 4 willow. |
9-02-10 Cooler nights mean more activity in the mornings. Look for that top water bite every chance you get. If it gets cloudy try it several times during the day. Buzz baits can be really good as fish become very active and love to chase things. |
| 8-26-10Time to look for your rat bite. The time is here and will stay till the grass is gone...... or it snows. However, usually not over Hydrilla growing alone. You need black or green slim if you can not find enough milfoil. |
8-23-10 The lower end is still producing the better numbers of fish with worm and creature baits paying of nicely. Swim the baits and then fish them slow and methodically. |
8-20-10 Remember summer is just winter in reverse. Bass like things to be moving fast when its hot. They maybe less active but the food they eat is very active in hot water. |
8-11-10 Learning to read your map is a must. On Guntersville defining a pattern is also a must. Do it two ways, first check your map for all the places you have fished in the past. Then, look at the places where there seems to always be a boat sitting. |
8-09-10 A great way to find places where fish are feeding on top is to look for shad balls on your electronics. This can be done by just idling over many different points till you see the clumps of shad. Then all you have to do is just stop and give them about 10 min to start feeding, if not try another. You would be surprised how often this works on hot summer days. -FLG |
8-05-10 Dealing with the heat sucks. I had a guy tell me many years ago about the towel around the neck trick. It really works, keep wet hand towel around you neck. It does not have to be cold water since it is the evaporation that cools you. -FLG |
8-03-10 Always have a spook or other lure to throw far at feeding fish. Feeding fish will come up about anywhere but it happens more so along the main lake. Once you find some where they are feeding, check it later they will come back. -FLG |
8-02-10 People on Guntersville say big lures equal big bass. While this is true downsizing can make a bad day turn out good. Small baits like 4" worms and creature baits will trigger more finicky bass Good luck FLG |
7-30-10 When flipping grass here try 2 approaches. One, cover lots of water fast and then slow down and back track if you find fish. Next, sneak in and fish as quiet as possible. Pick it apart and flip every square yard or 2. Good luck FLG |
